The most compelling and effective strategy to end generational homelessness is to ensure that children, who have experienced homelessness, have a strong developmental foundation that prepares them to be curious, enthusiastic, eager learners from the first day they enter kindergarten. Shelter and supportive housing can serve as communities of possibility for children. In these communities children are surrounded by adults – from the executive staff to the front-line staff and volunteers – who are wholly invested in their healthy development and academic success. We are dedicated to supportive housing where all adults are inspired to positively impact the lives of children. A hallmark of the Visible Child Initiative is its support for front-line professionals who provide the critical services in shelters and supportive housing. On this website you will find upcoming training opportunities, services, and resources based on the latest child and family research and best practices. |
